Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why might the Total Enrollments in Participating Courses be higher than Total Enrolled Students?
A: A single student can be enrolled in multiple courses, each with its own participating material. The enrollment count reflects all course-level enrollments, while the student count reflects unique individuals.

Q: Does this report show historical changes to a student's license or enrollment status?
A: No. The report reflects the current status only and does not provide a history of changes. It also only includes sections a student is currently enrolled in — dropped sections are excluded.

Q: What do the CA Student Price and TA Student Price columns represent?
A: These columns show the Course Access and Total Access student prices for each adopted item, accounting for FA pricing where applicable. This allows you to see the cost of course materials in one place without needing to cross-reference another report.

Q: How is this dashboard different from the Students Report in Connect?
A: These two reports are complementary but serve different needs. The Students Report in Connect is scoped to a single catalog and provides deep, row-level detail on each student's enrollment and license, including license state, access codes, pricing components, and print distribution. The Student Participation and Materials Report is a live dashboard that gives you a broader, cross-catalog view of current student enrollment and license status, along with material pricing, in one place. Use the Students Report when you need a full audit-ready export for a specific catalog; use this dashboard when you want to monitor or look up participation and access across your courses in real time.
