Content Blocks
There are 9 non-interactive Content Blocks. See detailed explanation below for each content block type.
Heading
The Heading block is used to add structure and organization to the content. Studio has five levels of headings available, each with a slightly different style.
Headings are also important for accessibility as a screen reader uses them to determine levels of hierarchy in the content.
Text
The bulk of the content will usually be communicated via Text blocks. Make text more digestible by breaking it into smaller chunks, using lists or tables whenever possible.
Text content can be modified and manipulated via the various tools available in the toolbar. See formatting Tools for an explanation of each tool.
Text with image
The Text With Image Block is similar to the Text block and has all the same text formatting tools as the Text block, except in this block type an image can be added to display above, to the left, to the right or wrapped around the text content.
The size, alignment, zoom ability and other attributes of the image can be set via the available image settings. An image caption and alt text can also be added. For better web accessibility make sure to add the image alt text.
Image
The Image Block allows you to add a standalone image block with a caption. Select the image for the images imported in from the PDF or upload a new image by clicking the ‘Choose Image’ button. This button toggles to ‘Change File’ after an image is selected.
- The size, alignment, zoom ability and other attributes of the image can be set via the available image settings.
- The Image Caption field has most of the same text formatting tools as other text fields.
- For better web accessibility make sure to add an Image Alt Text.
Blank Space
The Blank Space Block allows you to add a block of blank space between blocks.
Divider Line
The Divider Line Block allows you to add a divider line between blocks.
Boxed Text
The Boxed Text Block is similar to the Text block and has all the same text formatting tools and inline image features as the Text block, but in this block, a background color can be added to the text.
Table
The Table Block can be used to add a table. This block has the same formatting tools as the text block and also has properties that can be set specific to the table formatting.
When adding a table you can set the table properties for the number of rows/columns (Note: the first row is always a header row), heading formatting, width, and alignment. You can add a title to your table and set the column width type – Fixed or Variable.
To change the formatting on the table, a cell, a row, or a column, right-click anywhere in the table to open the table menu window. From the pop-up window, you can modify:
Cell properties
Row properties
Column properties
Quote
The Quote Block can be used to add quoted text with citations. This block has the same formatting tools as the text block, except for paragraph alignment.
