Who Uses It

Campus Jenzabar eLearning administrations can quickly and easily install the VitalSource LTI tool in order to provide students and faculty with seamless access to VitalSource Bookshelf and Analytics.

How to Install

These instructions detail how to set up VitalSource as an LTI tool provider. These steps must be completed by a system admin.

  1. Click the Academics tab.

  2. Click Manage Your Learning Tools under the Learning Tools header.

  3. Click Add a New Learning Tool and enter the following:

    • Name: Enter what you would like to appear to your faculty as the tool name. Example: VitalSource Course Materials.

    • Category: Assignment

    • Description: Optional field, can be left blank

    • Sharing: Share this tool with other JICS memebers

    • Location: https://bc.vitalsource.com/books

    • Key: Enter the key provided to you by VitalSource

    • Secret/Password: Enter the secret provided to you by VitalSource

    • Tool Display: new window

  4. Click Submit. The VitalSource tool will now appear in your Learning Tools and will be available for faculty to add to their courses.

Adding the Tool to Courses

These instructions detail how a system admin or faculty member can add the VitalSource Tool link to a course.

  1. When in a course site in Jenzabar, you can add the VitalSource Tool link to a course page. You can add it to an existing page, or create a new one.

    • If you would like to create a new page, click Add a Page from the left-hand navigation bar and enter the Name for the page you would like to display. Example: VitalSource Course Materials.

  2. On the page where you would like to add the VitalSource tool, scroll down to Learning Features and click Learning Tools.

  3. Click + Add a tool to this page

  4. Select the VitalSource tool from Your Learning Tools. This will add the VitalSource tool link to your course page.
