Extend Visibility to Your Physical Campus
Digital outreach is essential, but don’t underestimate the power of meeting students where they physically are, especially in the weeks before and during the start of term.
Place seasonal posters and banners in high-traffic campus areas during registration and the first weeks of class (print or digital, signage on TVs/monitors)
Insert bookstore FAQ flyers or promo cards into orientation packets so students know on day one where to find their materials
Distribute collateral to high visited service offices like the Bursars Office, Financial Aid, Student Services
Brief student ambassadors, resident advisors, and orientation staff to verbally direct students to the bookstore when course material questions arise
All schools: Orientation is one of the most valuable windows for in-person program explanation. A brief verbal message from an advisor or RA—“Don’t forget to purchase your course materials” or “Your books may already be on their way” or “Some courses have materials included; check your My Courses page”—goes a long way toward preventing first-week confusion at the help desk. This is especially important for schools where not all students or courses are covered by the program.
