📘 Course Access (CA) Programs: What Your Students Need to Know
If your institution offers a Course Access (CA/IA) program, a subset of courses—or specific majors—include discounted digital materials delivered automatically on or before the first day of class. Students benefit most when they understand upfront what’s included versus what they still need to purchase on their own.
Key things to communicate to students:
A student will probably have both CA courses (materials included) and Student Choice courses (they purchase independently) in the same term. Make sure they know the difference, so they don’t overlook materials they still need to buy.
Digital access is available on or before the first day of class, delivered through the LMS, school portal, online bookstore or via instructor-provided instructions.
The cost is billed as a course fee or automatically charged to the student’s account at a discounted rate.
Optional materials not covered by the program can be purchased directly through the online bookstore.
Students who prefer not to participate may opt out through the bookstore before each term’s billing deadline—and can opt back in before the same deadline if they change their mind. Frame this as an option, not a recommendation.
Ask your VSM or B2C Marketing Team for the CA student-facing messaging templates to incorporate into your term-start emails and landing page.
