Text Editor Overview

The text editor provides formatting options and tools available within a Body Content section type. Images and tables may be directly added into body content. Other content types may include the following options.

Format Tool Description
Format Text Basic text formatting such as bold and ital, etc.
Alignment Text may be flush left, centered, or flush right.
Lists
  • Bulleted

and 

  1. numbered lists are available
Horizontal Line A horizontal line may be added into a content block to show division of content.
Links Link to important content within or outside of the course.
Table A table may be inserted. You may add or delete rows and columns, add a header row, and adjust alignment within a table.
Media

Supported file types: .mp4, .mp3, .gif, .png, .jpeg, .jpg, .txt, .pdf, .docx, .xlsx, .pptx, .csv, and .tsv.

  • images and .mp4 videos will display embedded on page
  • .mp3, .txt, .pdf are included as a link that previews the file in a new tab
  • .docx, .pptx, .xlsx, .csv and .tsv files are included as a link that downloads the file


While the maximum file size for upload is 30 MB, images larger than 2 MB are not recommended due to excessive load time.

Citation Create citations of material within the narrative.

The code tool allows someone to:

  • display content without any bracketed tags as a code snippet in a gray background
  • mark up text with html tags (like for bold, italic, a hyperlink, etc.) and then apply those html tags appropriately to the content when previewed/published.
It does not do the following:
  • add brackets to the selected content
  • display any bracketed tags as raw text
  • display the contents of any brackets or the brackets themselves

Converting Text

Content that was created prior to Acrobatiq v4.0 release may remain as is. However, you have the option of converting most content types if editing is needed. While conversion prior to editing is not mandatory, best practice is to convert if editing is needed in order to take advantage of the new text editor, released in July 2018.

Convert Text from Previous Text Editor to New Text Editor

1. Go to the content section that you wish to convert.

2. Click If you wish, you can preview it in the new editor and convert it.

3. A box will open asking if the conversion looks correct to you. If it does, click New Editor. To keep the content in the old editor, click Old Editor. 
Note: if you select Old Editor, you will not be able to use the updated text editor tools.

4. Once the conversion is complete, use the new text editor tools to edit content for that section. You will also be able to use the clipboard tool to copy the section for reuse.
