Multiple Select

Multiple-select questions offer an array of answer choices in which a combination of selections may be the correct answer, as in the following questions. Many instructors choose to indicate the presence of multiple correct answers by including "Select all that apply" in the question stem. 

Build Multiple-Select Questions

Click + New Assessment, choose the assignment type, name the assessment, click Add, click + Add Content or Question, click + Add Question, and then click Multiple Select.  

1. Enter Title.

2. Enter Question.

3. Enter correct answers and distractions in the Answers section.  

4. Indicate correct answers by checking the radio button to the left of the answer text.

5. Update Feedback.

6. Tag question.

Tips for Writing Questions

1. Each question should have a minimum of three answer choices. 

2. Hints should be related to the question. 

3. The multiple-select question type can support the following media types as content, questions, answer choices, feedback, and hints: Text, Images, Audio, and Video.

4. Consider this question type instead of “except” or “not” questions. Include the statement “Select all that apply” in the question stem.

Tips for Writing Feedback

1. Ideally, you should write feedback for every possible combination of responses, but you can also set up feedback using logic statements.

2. As you add feedback, logic is available to help with feedback combinations.

3. Feedback written against the logic is helpful when there are many correct answers and distractors.

4. Use the radio button adjacent to the feedback to indicate which combinations yield which feedback.

5. When the student provides some but not all of the correct answers, the feedback should indicate that the answer is partially correct. (Example: While you have selected one correct answer, there is at least one additional correct answer.)
