🎓 VitalSource Instructor Course Dashboard Overview
The VitalSource Instructor Course Dashboard is designed to streamline the course material experience for students through seamless integration with your campus Learning Management System (LMS). This guide walks through how instructors interact with the dashboard.
đź”— Accessing the Dashboard
Instructors can access their personalized VitalSource Course Dashboard directly through the campus LMS. The VitalSource team collaborates with your campus LMS administrator to determine the optimal link placement within the LMS for easy student access.
🎨 Campus Customization
The dashboard can be custom-branded for your campus. Options include:
- Campus logo
- Custom student messaging
- Color themes
- Custom store links
These enhancements ensure that the dashboard reflects your campus identity and supports a familiar student experience.
đź“š Viewing Enrolled Courses & Adoptions
After logging in via the LMS, instructors are shown:
- A list of all enrolled courses
- An item card for each course material adoption
Each item card includes:
- Course material details
- The deadline for students to opt out
- Action buttons for accessing materials
đź“– Accessing Course Materials
Instructors can access their materials in several ways:
- VitalSource Bookshelf: Click "Read Now" to access e-textbooks instantly
- Access Codes: Instructors will see a "Reveal Access Code" to mirror the student experience; however instructors will not receive an Access Code and will need to work with their publisher contacts to get their courseware product set up
- Launch Courseware: If your campus utilizes our Partner Integration, faculty can SSO into course from Course Dashboard for participating publishers.

Custom Instructions: If materials require special steps, custom guidance will appear on the item card
đź“Š Instructor Analytics
To access student engagement data, Instructors can go to the Instructor Portal tab and select Instructor Analytics.
From here, faculty members can view a variety of data visualizations representing their student’s engagement with their adopted eTextbooks.
Deeplinking
Instructors can also utilize VitalSource’s LTI-A Deeplinking tool to place links to specific content or chapters in their LMS courses. A more detailed guide is available here.
