Update to Pub Comp Email Language

We’re happy to announce that there are three new columns being added to Pub Comp statements, beginning February 2023 (these statements will be emailed in early March); details on the new columns are below:

  • Child Company State (column P)
    • What? This will display the State assigned to a child company in Manage
    • Why?  When there is a Parent company in our Manage system with many “children”, our statements currently display the State associated to the Parent company’s billing address.   By providing the State associated to each child company, Publishers and their reps will have a better understanding of where content is being distributed
  • Connect ISBN (column Z)
    • What? This will display the ISBN for items stored in Verba Connect
    • Why?  Sometimes the ISBN stored in Verba Connect differs from the ISBNs/VBID stored in Manage and we want to provide that additional information
  • Transaction Fee (column AN)
    • What? For any customers where VST retains an additional fee, the value of that fee will be displayed in this column
    • Why?  To help customers understand their final Pub Comp calculations if additional fees are retained by VST

Bookshelf: Table of Contents (TOC) Updates

What’s changed?

When a book has a deeply nested Table of Contents (TOC), it can be difficult for users to find the appropriate sub-level and locate their content.

That said, we’ve updated our TOC to include the following changes:

  • Decrease in padding the left side of the TOC to create additional space for chapters with long titles
  • Add 4th level carrot to allow a total of 5 five levels of indentation
  • Bold the selected chapter title for easy visual indication of which chapter the user has open

Explore & Create: New Filter Capabilities

The Verba Product Team is excited to announce that new filter capability for Explore & Create in Connect has been released. These upgrades will improve the discoverability of matched items and reduce catalog-setup friction term over term.

What’s changed?
We’ve introduced two new filtering capabilities:

  • Quick Filter functionality that easily allows users to delineate between “unworked” and “worked” adoptions.
  • Advanced Filter functionality that allows users to scope adoptions based on things like distribution rights, content type, estimated student pricing, and Bookshelf CoachMe.

For more detail on how the filters work, check out our Success portal article for more information.

Growth Analytics – BETA Release!

The Dashboard “Growth Analytics” is officially live in Connect for all users!

This new Dashboard tab includes 6 new views into how your IA or EA program is currently performing. The charts can be easily viewed and exported right from within Connect!

NOTE: Releasing new features under a BETA label means that we can offer new features faster to customers and collect feedback which can be incorporated into future iterations. Because we’re still iterating, be aware that some functionality may not work as expected.

ShapeEA Students Report!

We’re excited to let you know about a new tool designed to help you manage your Equitable Access program: The EA Students Report! If you’ve previously partnered with VitalSource on your Inclusive Access program, this report should look very familiar. Its structured and behaves very similar to the Inclusive Access Students Report, with slight variation to accommodate the differences in the programs. As a bonus, we’ve also added details around print distribution statuses and information!

Previously, EA Catalogs did not have a Students Report for you to leverage as a troubleshooting tool like you had available in your IA catalogs. Previously, you could only see information about students and their course materials at the individual student level on the Students page in Connect. By making this report available for EA catalogs we are rounding out our offering and making it even easier for you to manage your EA program using Verba Connect.

The EA Students Report provides a comprehensive look at all students and their status. It can be used to:

  • Troubleshoot student concerns
  • Audit & identify the students that will be included in invoice/charge data before invoice generation
  • Search and sort in a more flexible way than what is available on the Students page
  • Track student enrollment changes, including students who are dropped and no longer visible in the UI
  • Audit and track print distribution statuses in bulk

You’ll be able to begin using the EA Students Report as soon as students are imported and enrolled for a term. To export your own EA Student’s report, select Reports, then Campus Reports, and locate the Students Report. “Click Email Report to Me” to generate the report and have it delivered to your inbox. Due to the size of EA Programs, this can take upwards of 30 minutes.

EA Opt-Outs Report

What’s Improved?

The Catalog Wide Opt-Outs Report is now live for Equitable-Access-enabled catalogs (Reports > Campus Reports).

Users can request either a comprehensive list of opted-out students or select a date range to review catalog-wide opt-outs that occurred within that timeframe. The report also includes an opt-outs history report that allows users to review a sequence of participation changes that may have occurred.

Because EA opt-outs occur at the catalog level, this report deviates from the IA opt-outs report in that we are only listing students who have opted out, and not the individual licenses they have opted out of.
