WileyPLUS Setup Guide in D2L/Brightspace

This guide walks you through how to create a course in WileyPLUS and link it to your Learning Management System (LMS) using the VitalSource LTI tool.

⚙️ Requirements

Before you begin, make sure you have the following:

  • A verified Wiley instructor account
    *To request an account, visit the WileyPLUS website.

  • Access to education.wiley.com to create your course.

  • The correct course title and content adopted by your bookstore.

  • Access to the VitalSource LTI tool within your LMS.

If you don’t have a verified instructor account or access to the correct course materials, please contact your Wiley representative.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Course Creation and Prep in WileyPLUS

A verified WileyPLUS instructor account is required to complete the following steps. If you have not done so, please visit the WileyPLUS website to request one.

  1. Navigate to education.wiley.com and sign in with your verified instructor credentials.

  2. On the Instructor Dashboard, you can either copy an existing course from a previous term or create a new course. In this guide, we’ll walk through creating a new course from scratch by clicking Create Course.

  • If you prefer to reuse an existing course, go to the Past tab, open the Action menu next to the course you'd like to reuse, and select Copy Course.

  1. Select the Build button under the Create New option.

  1. Choose the appropriate discipline for your course and click Next Step.

    •  Make sure the content matches what was adopted by your bookstore. If you have any questions, contact your Wiley representative.

  2. Search by author or title to locate the course materials adopted by your bookstore.

    • warning If you need assistance identifying the correct title, please contact your Wiley representative.

  3. Once you’ve found the correct title, select it and click Next Step.

  4. Enter a course name and click Next Step again.

  5. Select the chapters and sections you want to include. Your selections can be modified later in Course Resources. Once finished, click Next Step.

  6. When prompted with “Are you importing WileyPLUS to a LMS?”, choose Yes. A dropdown menu will appear — select your institution’s LMS from the list, then click Complete in the bottom-right corner.

  1. A success message will appear saying “Ready to integrate your course.” Click Go to My Courses.

  1. You should now see the course you just created in the Current Courses tab.

  2. Find the Integration Code displayed on the right side of your course. Keep this code handy — you’ll need it to link your WileyPLUS course with the VitalSource LTI tool.

  1. Sign into your D2L/Brightspace account

  2. From the dashboard, click the course to open the course page.

  3. Click Add a module… box from the left menu under the table of contents. Enter a name for your module and press Return (or Enter) on the keyboard.

  4. Once the module is created and selected, the Existing Activities menu will appear below the module name.

  5. Open the Existing Activities menu to and select External Learning Tools.

  6. Search the VitalSource LTI tool and click the name to add it to the module

    • warning If you’re not sure which tool to use, check with your LMS admin or bookstore contact.

  7. Now that the tool has been added, click it to open a new page.

  8. After clicking the tool, the paired content will be visible. Click Launch Courseware to begin the integration process.

  9. If this is your first time launching courseware, you’ll be asked to sign in with your WileyPLUS instructor credentials.

  10. After signing in, you will be directed to the Activate WileyPLUS page. Enter the Integration Code you received when creating the course in WileyPLUS and click Pair Course.

  11. Check if you’re getting the correct course from WileyPLUS. If it’s correct, click Confirm.

  12. Your WileyPLUS course is now linked! The next step is to begin adding deep links to WileyPLUS content in your D2L/Brightspace course.

Create WileyPLUS Deep Linking

  1. To start adding deep links in the D2L/Brightspace course, select the Add a module… box from the left menu under the table of contents.

  2. Enter a name for your module and press Return (or Enter) on the keyboard.

  3. Once the module is created and selected, the Existing Activities menu will appear below the module name.

  4. Open the Existing Activities menu to see a list of all external tools available in the course.

  5. Locate the VitalSource LTI tool associated with your course.

    • warning If you’re not sure which tool to use, check with your LMS admin or bookstore contact.

  6. Click the tool name to open the Add Activity menu. This page will display the content paired with your course.

  7. Click Open Publisher Tool to launch the WileyPLUS deep link selector.

  8. In the WileyPLUS deep link selector, you can choose to either add a question set by clicking Choose Questions, or link a resource by clicking Select Resource. See the sections below for step-by-step instructions on both options.

Choose Questions From WileyPLUS

  1. After selecting the Open Publisher Tool option, click Choose Questions.

  2. You can either select an existing question set or create a new one. In this guide, we’ll walk through how to create a new question set. Click + New Question Set.

  3. Enter a name for your question set (e.g., Chapter 1) and click Next Step.

  4. In the Question Bank, use the dropdown menus to browse available content. Click on a bank group name to expand and view the available questions.

  5. Select individual questions or choose Select All to include the entire set. After making your selections, click the + Add button.

  6. The selected questions will appear in the panel on the right. You can assign point values to each question there. When finished, click Next Step.

  7. On the Question Set Policies page, configure your desired settings and click Next Step.

  8. Choose whether to share the question set with other instructors and whether students can view the content covered. After making your selections, click Next Step.

  9. On the next screen, you can choose to set a specific due date for the question set or leave it available by default. In this guide, we’ll make the question set available immediately by clicking Save.

  10. After saving, you’ll be redirected back to D2L/Brightspace, and the deep link will be automatically added to the module.

Select Resources From WileyPLUS

  1. After creating the module and adding the VitalSource LTI tool, click the tool and select Open Publisher Tool.

  2. Click Select Resource.

  1. Use the Search Filter to browse the available resources.

  2. Select the resources you’d like to link in D2L/Brightspace. Once your selection is complete, click Add Selected.

  3. This will take you back to your D2L/Brightspace course, and automatically add the deep link in your module.
